Since its founding in 2024, Composite Tailors has been steadily advancing toward the deployment of CFRP space telescopes.

2027–

Mass Production & Business Expansion

We aim to complete development of the φ400mm high-performance model and establish mass production lines. We are working toward building a mass production supply system for optical satellite constellations.

2026

φ90mm M1 In-Orbit Demonstration

On-orbit demonstration of the compact and lightweight φ90mm M1 model is planned. We aim to achieve the world's first in-orbit demonstration of a CFRP space telescope.

June 2025

Kansai Lab Opened

With the expansion of our development team, we established a new R&D facility in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture. We equipped it with dedicated CFRP molding and evaluation facilities, strengthening our development capabilities.

February 2025

Selected for JAXA Space Strategic Fund

Selected by JAXA as an implementing organization for the Space Strategic Fund program theme, "Development and Demonstration of Satellite Components for Building a Satellite Supply Chain." We are working on the development of ultra-lightweight CFRP telescopes.

Composite Tailors Incorporated

Founded Composite Tailors Co., Ltd. with core members of Techlab Co., Ltd. The company's primary business is the development and manufacture of CFRP space telescopes, producing optical instruments for satellites.

Selected for JST A-STEP Program

Techlab was selected for the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) Adaptable and Seamless Technology Transfer Program through Target-driven R&D (A-STEP). In collaboration with Ehime University, we are working on the development of ultra-lightweight, high-precision CFRP mirrors using the replica method that eliminates the need for optical polishing.

Selected for JAXA Innovative Future Space Transportation Program

Techlab was selected for JAXA's Innovative Future Space Transportation Co-creation R&D Program. Conducted research on the realization of cryogenic-compatible composite material piping.

February 2021

Selected for NEDO International R&D / Co-Fund Program

Techlab was selected for the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) International R&D / Co-Fund Program. Worked on the R&D of ultra-lightweight CFRP mirrors for satellite-mounted telescopes.
