Business & Products

Composite Tailors is a startup developing and manufacturing space telescopes using CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic). Compared with conventional metal and glass optical instruments, CFRP telescopes will simultaneously deliver dramatic weight reduction, mass producibility, and thermal dimensional stability.
Since our founding in 2024, we have been selected as a technology development theme under the JAXA Space Strategic Fund and are steadily advancing our R&D.

The Value CFRP Brings

Our Current Phase

Basic Research Prototyping & Evaluation Demonstration Mass Production

Challenges We Want to Tackle Together

Thermal Deformation Control

How to ensure sub-micron shape stability under the thermal cycling of the space environment

Pursuit of Surface Precision

Establishing machining and metrology processes to finish mirror surfaces on CFRP substrates to nanometer-order accuracy

Mass Production Technology

Scaling laboratory-scale forming techniques into reproducible manufacturing processes

In-orbit Demonstration

Conducting stepwise verification from ground environmental testing through to on-orbit demonstration

FAQ

Can I apply without experience in composite materials or CFRP?

Yes. CFRP-specific knowledge can be acquired after joining.

Can I work fully remotely?

Because assembly, testing, and similar work require on-site communication and swift execution, we operate on an in-office basis as a general rule.

Can I present research results at academic conferences or publish them as papers?

We actively encourage conference presentations and paper submissions, provided they do not conflict with confidentiality obligations. All related costs are covered by the company.

Is Japanese the primary language used for business?

Most of our team members are Japanese, and communication is primarily in Japanese. However, English can be used as a business language.

My research topic does not perfectly match your areas of interest. Can I still apply?

Absolutely. As an open position, we will design the role based on your experience and interests. Please feel free to contact us.

How long does the selection process take?

From initial contact to offer typically takes one to two weeks. We can adjust flexibly based on your circumstances.

For new graduates, is it possible to apply without a PhD?

We primarily target candidates with an expected PhD completion, but we will consider research content and skills comprehensively.
